Smallholder farmers,
through their farmer
organisations.
While many internal and external stakeholders are relevant to this strategy, the target groups are smallholder farmers in rural and peri-urban Malawi who are members of farmer organisations that are interested in, are in the process of, or have already ‘graduated’ into being efficient, well governed, and well managed cooperatives.
The ACE Trust team is acutely aware that the obstacles limiting the target groups’ development are myriad and will require a concerted effort from a range of actors to be fully alleviated. However, ACE Trust can focus on and improve our contribution to the target groups’ development in the niche areas within which we operate.
Three stages of engagement.
Interested
Farmer organisations that have expressed interest in structured trade but have not yet begun the journey.
In process
Organisations working towards becoming efficient, well governed, and well managed cooperatives.
Graduated
Cooperatives already operating efficiently and independently, using ACE services as a business.
